Form letter.

Google mail allows you to modify it so it shows whether the reply was sent out in mass or to you specifically. I was curious and put it on. It was surprising. Even the ones personalised with my name were sent out in bulk. It hurt seeing that but I guess they’re busy and that’s the way it is. No wonder those ones got back so quickly!

I’ve almost finished the first draft of my second book. I don’t like this one as much as the first. The first flowed naturally but I’m feeling more self conscious on this one and I don’t know why.

I’m so sorry to hear it’s so hard, and so hard on you. It doesn’t mean your novel isn’t good.

I’m getting a lot of form rejections, too.

I think you are on to something — write the next book. Many authors don’t get an agent/publication until a second, third, even fourth book, which then opens the door for your previous works. Just not in chronological order.

Just think of how cool you’ll feel when you sign a three book contract, with the other two books already written and polished!

I’m pulling for you — this is a difficult business, one I know I never would’ve chosen if writing hadn’t chosen me.

Keep your chin up, and keep the faith, okay?

    Em
