First Draft Complete.

My first draft has been completed. Almost 67,000 words and I am done. I’m excited about going back to the beginning again, because my mind is racing ahead. Now, I feel ready to write the next book and I have many ideas that are fighting against each other in my head. For a while, I was worried that one day I’d run out of ideas, but then I came up with two new ideas from nowhere so I feel much better now.

Congratulations on a first draft – I’ve yet to get that far! I found your blog through WriteWords and thought you might be interested in this Short-Story Competition from CompletelyNovel – a new online community for writers and readers that lets you share your work online and sell it as a paperback. They are celebrating their launch to the public in October with a competition for short stories to appear in their CompletelyNovel Launch Anthology. Winners are being selected by people from across the publishing industry.
    More details at http://www.completelynovel.com/home/competition

Word limit is 2500 so may be a welcome distraction before starting on your second draft

    Best wishes

I have an idea for a story that may work if reduced to 2500 words but I’ll have to think about it. I’ll definitely be signing up to the site though, especially since it’s free!
