I was sitting in my lecture, bored out of my mind, when some ideas for my current book popped into my head. If I’d been sitting in front of the PC still, I doubt that those ideas would’ve came to me, but the outside world stirred them and VOILA, next Monday, I’ll be adding them to my story!
My dream was to be a writer for a living. If I sell enough books to do this, I’ll still probably do it, but if not, it’s not the end of the world. The world can bring out so much that sitting in front of your laptop can’t, so if I’m one of those authors who only generates 10,000 or less pounds a year, so be it.

I did a little dance when I reached 20,000 words and now I’m about to hit 35,000 words. Hopefully soon I’ll get to the halfway point at 40,000 words. I can feel the usual “halfway slump” creeping up on me. Originally I was at 24,000 words when I was near the halfway point, but I returned to the beginning and added another 7,000 words. I hope this book is the one because I’ve got ideas for possible sequels in mind. Fingers and toes crossed!!

Moved in our house for the second year. To save money, my flatmates programmed the heater to turn on for two hours in the morning. The rest of the day, NOTHING! I changed the settings so we’d have two hours at night as well and they took it off, so I put it back on! It’s cold and I’m going to ask my parents to bring my portal heater the next time they come down. I completely understand that we want to save costs, but to live like this is horrible and I can’t wait to have a warm room again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judging by book 1 being called “torture porn”, I’m leaving book 2 and starting my first thriller. I’m sure that people would assume that book 2 is “torture porn” (it is NOT) as well so I’m leaving it alone. Book 3 is completely different so hopefully I’ll have more luck with this one. I’ve written 5000 words so far and I like the way it’s going. Also, if this book is ever published and becomes a success, there’s a follow up that could be written.
One of the characters is based on myself and the other is the complete opposite. I wrote the query before I started the book and it sounds good to me.

A while back I thought to myself “this book won’t get published”. I dismissed it but after over 50 form rejections, I’m starting to believe it. It’s depressing and I’ve changed my query but still got another rejection.
I’m still stuck on the second book so I’m going back to the start. I changed the intro to something better suited so now there’s no flashback. I don’t know whether to class this book as a horror or a thriller. My nightmare (or fantasy) would be that my first published book is a thriller, but then I’d get stuck in thrillers and half of my future ideas are horrors because they have a supernatural element.

I wanted to go for a pitch black spooky theme but then I realised that that has nothing to do with the ’sea’ so I scrapped that and went with blue instead. It’s still darker than the last theme, which is what I wanted so I’m fine. Now I have my own banner and can stand out a bit more. I won’t be one of those blogs that keeps the same theme for years. I’ll keep changing it whenever I get bored, possibly cycling through the same ones so it keeps the place looking fresh but the graphics don’t slow down my laptop.
